Everyone wants a number one position in search engines, but just how valuable is the top spot in Google? Cornell University did a study on click behavior on search engine result pages showing click percentages for each of the 10 positions on a search engine results page .
The result is staggering – the difference in clicks between the #1 result and the #2 result is a bank busting four times as many clicks for the #1 website.
So you can essentially quadruple your business by moving up to number one from the second spot.

Search engine optimization starts with quality HTML. On page optimization uses existing text, images and links and structures them in a unifying format.
This is a general guideline for the HTML structure of a webpage. The most important information should be at the top of a page along with an image. Note the proper use of header tags instead of bold or strong markup. Header tags were designed to structure documents, and search engines DO pay close attention to the semantic markup of your text.
Page Structure:
<h1> header

Remember writing essays in English class. Optimized pages follow the standard essay structure with a summary, body and conclusion. Additional web elements are an image for relevance and increased search opportunity and internal links to increase authority.
