Link building changes each year, this is a summary of how to prosper with your linking activities in the coming years.
5 years ago all we had to do is build exact anchor text links and we could hope for high rankings. 10 years ago we could get high rankings with forum signature links and comments, but today everything revolves around relevancy and natural link profiles.
We know that we need to diversify our links starting from anchor texts we use, position on the page up to types of websites we get links from, not to mention keeping your link velocity in check. As social media continues to factor more and more on the web, webmasters need to keep an eye on how new trends and/or developments such as URL shorteners affect SEO rankings. For these useful tools, at least, URL shorteners have been integrated into sites without any drawbacks – really without much difference at all in how search engines value the links.
To Google, custom URL shorteners are basically viewed as general redirects and the PageRank comes through just like a regular 301 or permanent redirect, so there isn’t any downside for SEO. As Matt Cutts of Google says in a video posted on their Webmaster Help YouTube Channel, “If we try to crawl a page, and we see a 301 or permanent redirect, which pretty much all well-behaved URL shorteners like bit.ly or goo.gl will do, if we see that 301 then that will pass PageRank to the final destination.”

Competition analysis is an important part of an SEO strategy to access the strengths and weaknesses of competing websites.
Using some SEO tools we can discover what keywords they are targeting for rankings and paid search ads.

Ted was gracious enough to answer questions about the future of search engine optimization and best practices for web design and internet architecture.
Tedster stresses best practices that do not change, and is not a fan of chasing the Google algorithm. He also reveals that he would focus resources on IA before SEO.
